The Guide to Budget-friendly Moving

September 9th, 2009 · 1 Comment · General

The typical American tends to move from his house or apartment far more frequently than people in other parts of the world. This is because many Americans crave new experiences, such as doing new things or exploring new areas. Some people even like to live in close proximity to all the Orlando theme parks, which probably keeps local Orlando movers quite busy.

If you retain a moving company, moving probably won’t actually be physically painful for you, but loading all the furniture efficiently and organizing all your belongings into boxes can definitely be tough, if not downright stressful. Grocery stores tend to be the source of moving boxes for those on a tight budget, while those without financial restraints tend to buy professional moving boxes to help preserve their appearance. Some people will be smart enough to get new moving cartons for free. If you plan on using the US Postal Service for some or all of your move, complimentary flat-rate boxes or priority mail boxes are available at the post office. If you plan to use the USPS to move some of your personal effects, make sure you take advantage of their no-cost boxes to help cut your moving costs down a bit. Even if you get no-cost moving boxes, you’ll still probably need to buy packing and shipping materials, like tape, paper, bubble wrap and more. If you want to move in style, then you can always go online and purchase various styles and sizes of new moving boxes. There are moving kits that will help you move your kitchen, clothes and important files. Sometimes you will not only get free cardboard moving boxes with their moving kits, they can occasionally give you discounted shipping and handling rates as well. If you are moving your whole house, you might want to get estimates to ship your car and pets and see if that reduces your cost.

Be sure to compare the various features and benefits of each company you interview before you decide to spend your hard earned money on them. Before making a decision, be sure to compare how long each service has been in operation and how many total locations they have serviced. For example, you might see an online listing that reads “Miami moving company” and you wouldn’t know if they just service that area or if they’re nationwide. You’ll want to check, because the more experienced they are, the better. If you can get the information, you should check online for client reviews of the companies on your short list of movers. It’s easier than you may think to bring down the cost of moving.
