Portraits Make For Unique Presents

If you are responsible for giftgiving to the same people year after year, your gift choices can get boring. This is especially true for immediate family members who receive gifts for the holidays, for their birthdays, and for anniversaries. Each year you are either stuck for a unique and likable gift idea, or you turn to “tradition” and give them the same dull item. When all else fails, you write them a check or give them a gift card, but this is fairly impersonal. It takes a lot to be a great gift giver. If you are stuck for ideas for the ideal gift, consider a photograph or painting. They can hang this on the wall and highlight it with a cordless picture light. You can choose a family photograph or a print, or you can give them a unique piece of artwork. In any case, they get a delightful present that will remind them of you for years to come. Best of all, by using cordless picture lights to highlight the piece, it truly becomes a part of their home. Everyone will love a gift as thoughtful as this.

If you choose to give your loved one a photograph, make it special. Take an old photo and have it framed and mounted. This could be one of you and your spouse and the kids, or it could be an antique photo of a departed loved one. You could also choose a group snapshot from a family holiday, or find one of your spouse and their family celebrating a holiday. Whatever you choose, look for something you know they will love.

If you think a family photo will not do the trick consider having a print framed instead. If you are aware of their loving a certain piece of art, find the far less expensive print and have a professional framer mount and frame it. Give them the chance to bring art into their environment for a reasonable cost. Plus, they get to view their favorite painting all the time. Remember, you can also get prints of sculpture and other styles of art.

Should your loved one not be an art lover, consider a print of their favorite location. If they had a exciting safari in Africa, find a print of the Serengeti. Do they visit New York every Christmas with their spouse or best friend? How about a photo of the Radio City Music Hall or Rockefeller Center? This will give them a constant reminder of one of their favorite memories.

If your loved one does love art but you think it is out of their price range and yours, think again. Locate a nearby amateur or student who will create a unique, affordable painting for your loved one. This is a great way to bring art into the home without spending an arm and a leg. Furthermore, it can be a great investment should your local artist hit it big one day! Photos, prints, and paintings are creative presents.
