Biodiesel Kits, Any Good?

March 12th, 2010 · No Comments · DIY

If you have been driving for some time, you could have discovered that fuel cost is taking up a huge portion of your monthly revenue.  Will not it be good if you can save on the petrol that you are using now?  Well, the excellent news is that you can.  All that you need to do is to switch to Homemade Biodiesel.  First, let us outline what is Biodiesel.

Homemade biodiesel will bring your fuel cost down significantly, and is quite as good, if not better for your vehicles engine as commercial biodiesel.

The method of making biodiesel is by converting plant oil it biodiesel by mixing the oil with methanol and lye.  The procedure used to making biodiesel is to mix the ingredients, allowing the lye to split the glycerine from the plant oil, and the methanol to replace the glycerine.

All that you need are the major igredients like your plant oil, alcohol, lye, and water and your mixing and heating equipment.  Of course, since you are working with flammable products, extra care is advised to stop burns by wearing the necessary threads such as gloves, apron and eye protection since the gases emitted in the chemical reaction can cause blindness.  Care should also be exercised with the method itself since the chemicals used are inflammable and experts also suggest that to make home made biodiesel, the temperature should be cool in the room and it must also be well ventilated to permit the toxic fumes to escape faster.

If you can procure these basic parts then you can make your own homemade bio diesel kit.  And for instructions on the easy way to build your own you can hire a professional to do it or you can get instructions from your provider.  For detailed step-by-step instructions on ways to make your own biodiesel visit Homemade Biodiesel
